Cydney Puro was born and raised in Santa Monica, California. She received her BFA in Photography from Bard College in 2005.  At Bard, her mentors included the photographers Stephen Shore and An-My Lê, who she credits as inspiration for the development of her own style and photographic voice. Much of her work is rooted in the documentary and offers a rare glimpse into the lives of her subjects and their environments. Puro is currently working on a project related to specific islands around the world; she recently returned from the Faroe Islands, located in the North Atlantic.  Her work has been exhibited at galleries in Los Angeles and New York City and is in several private collections. Currently, Puro splits her time between Los Angeles and New York City freelancing.
